Heidi

Heidi Klum, born on 1 June 1973 in Bergisch Gladbach Germany. Erna Klum was her mother. Gunther Klum was an executive for a cosmetics corporation. Heidi's father was formerly a Production Manager for the fragrance firm 4711. She grew up in her hometown in Bergisch Gladbach a city of about 100,000 residents only six miles to the east of Cologne. The former model from Germany, Heidi Klum is now an actor as well as a television host. Klum's career as a model began in 1992 while she worked as a barmaid in an Dusseldorf club. An acquaintance (Karin) advised the young student of 18 to participate in the German television talent show known as Model 92. The German women's newspaper Petra was the sponsor of the show that was a part of Thomas Gottschalk's late night talkshow. Klum had to compete against the 25,000 contestants from Germany as well as Europe in order to be one of three semifinalists. In April, 1992 she won the highest prize of $300,000.
